Unhealthy working environment: stinky room full with chemical vapors?

I am currently working at a small chemical company. As a chemical engineer, I deal mostly with technical support and quality control. They station me at this lab which is actually not a proper lab, it is more like a storage room for chemicals. In this room, there is NO fume hood or sink or spacious bench top for chemical handling (mixing, formulating, disposal etc). So basically , this is just like any other room called "lab". There is only one vent on the ceiling. However, even though I ensure that it is working 24/7, this room is still very stinky. Since a lot of testing is performed in this room, you can smell lots of chemicals and it is a very unpleasant smell. So I guess that the air ventilation is not good enough let alone air circulation. In the first few months working here, I experienced my throat burning and lately I felt that my chest is so stuffed up, harder to breathe. I brought this issue before to my supervisor that I would like to move to another room but he said he couldn't do that as there was no other room in this building where he could station me at. He suggested me to wait for 5 more months when the construction of new building would be completed.
So my question will be, is there any way I can persuade my supervisor to station me at another room with better ventilation and air circulation? I am really concerned about my health because I have been stationed here for 6 months and it seems that the management does not care. Please give advice so that I can be affirmative about this issue when I talk to the management but at the same time does not sound fussy/whining. Thanks

Answer
I doubt the company doesn't care as you put it. They know there is a problem. They are building a new building and you will be relocated. It sounds more like their options for solving the problem is limited at the moment.

You can come up with a feasible plan and hopefully get management's buy in.
Or you can file an OSHA claim. But besides from doing that, you are kind of stuck.
