My toy rat terrier has recently started licking her feet to the point that they are raw?

They have turned red and it has spread to her chest. I'm planning to take her to the vet tomorrow but wondered if anyone has any idea what is going on with her. She is 4 years old and this has just started happening. I'm thinking it may be an allergy but wanted ideas from others who may have had the same problem.
When I said they are raw, they are not bleeding. Just got that way today so I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow.
The only thing new in my house was a wool rug in the living room. I removed it last week so that doesn't seem to be the problem. Only other new thing is bermuda grass seed outside that has just started to grow.

Allergies would be my guess. Does she go outside and perhaps stepped on a chemically treated lawn surface? Are you using something to clean or freshen your carpets? Avoid chemicals, she's sensitive to something.
Wash her feet with a gentle, mild, preferably unscented soap, use lukewarm water. Keep her feet dry, and call your vet or research online how much Benadryl to give per pound to your dog. Don't worry about getting an expensive 'brand name' product, the store brand is just fine. They're the pink Benadryl, or Benadryl type pills. I dip a t-spoon in a bit of margarine and place the pill in the margarine. They'll take anything with margarine on it. You can also wrap the pill in a bit of cheese.

Our dogs have all been given Benadryl at one point or another for their allergies. It goes by weight.
