Plush toys are thoughtful, sweet and are a great way to show the love and gratitude you have for another in your life. The type of a majority of these wonderful toys is inspired by cartoons, novelties, and animals large and small.
A plush toy is a creature, celebrity, or item that is stuffed with straw, beans, pellets, cotton, or other types of fibers and then mended together with plush fabric, cotton, or other types of materials. These cuddly toys come in many different shapes, types, and depictions. The most popular of plush toys are those that are made to resemble a cartoon character. But, plush toys have been made to look like any and everything, from microscopic biological material for science freaks, to plush toys made to look like food. In addition, there are many stuffed toys made for niche hobbies such as fishing - as an example, a plush fishing pole.
The most well-known of these stuffed animals is the teddy bear. The teddy bear received it's name after the 26th president of America, Theodore Roosevelt. In 1902, Theodore Roosevelt was at a a bear hunt when he came upon a wounded cub. Mr. Roosevelt put in orders for the cub to be euthanized because he was severely hurt. This action was admired by many citizens and shortly there after, the teddy bear became an icon for the country and stayed in America's culture indefinitely.
Plush toys were actually first conceived in the early 1800's and got more and more popular as technological advancements were introduced. The first brands of plush toys were crafted by dead bodies of animals. But the taxidermy approach to creating stuffed toys was done away with. By the late 1800's, early 1900's, plush toys began to be made synthetically without the use of dead animals.
People all over the world are in love with plush toys. Some enthusiasts make it an interest to collect plush toys of all kinds. Many times though, like the teddy bear, are in a league of their own and have a vast array of types, sizes, and brands. Today, there are dozens of stores, and even tons of them online, that have teddy bears. So, the competition in this arena is fierce.
Stuffed toys are the perfect gift for people of all ages. Many times, a stuffed animal is given to someone who is in a hospital bed. These warm, cuddly, and furry toys are a wonderful gift for a loved one who is is in ill spirits. Also, plush toys are the most popular anniversary gift, and, are marketed especially for that special day. Furthermore, children are crazy about plush toys and are almost always introduced to them as babies. Because of this tradition in plush toy introduction, children grow up to love stuffed toys and depend on them to get to sleep at night.
