Star Wars and LEGO Sets
Thus far there have been 7 movies released based on the Star Wars storyline. LucasFilms has done a tremendous job marketing these films and creating products based on these movies. One of the more popular products for the Star Wars movies is LEGO sets. The LEGO Group signed on with LucasFilms in 1999 to recreate scenes from each movie and the response from fans has proven to be very positive.
Episode I: The Phantom Menace is the first prequel released. It was released in 1999 and earlier that year The LEGO Group had already begun releasing LEGO sets for the first Star Wars movie. The Phantom Menace Star Wars LEGO Sets include some very popular and rare Star Wars LEGO mini figures like Darth Maul, a young Anakin Skywalker and Jar Jar Binks.
Episode II is the 2ND movie released for the prequel series. The LEGO sets based on Attack of the Clones include the ever hard to find Jango Fett's Slave I LEGO Set. This LEGO Set includes two of the more rare LEGO mini figures in Jango Fett and child Boba Fett.
Episode III: Revenge of the Sith is the third prequel movie released. This one came out in 2005. The Episode III LEGO Sets include a great LEGO set called Ultimate Lightsaber Duel. This could be the LEGO Groups most interactive Star Wars LEGO Set to date is it contains two LEGO mini figures, Anakin and Obi-Wan Kenobi, who are controlled by sticks connected to a platform each of them stands on. These two sticks can be moved back and forth and a battle scene is recreated!
The very first film every released by LucasFilms for the Star Wars trilogy is a New Hope. LEGO and LucasFilms would not unite for another twenty years! Jawa, Owen Lars, and Captain Antilles are some of the LEGO mini figures that are most sought after in this LEGO series. This series of Star Wars LEGO sets also includes the very much collectible Death Star which has an army of Star Wars LEGO mini figures.
Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back was the second film released for the Star Wars series of films. The Episode V LEGO Sets include the original of the Slave I star ships, 7144 and 6209. The 6209 version of the two is the best as it is a much larger sized build and much more true the films version of the star ship.
Return of the Jedi is the last of the original Star Wars films. The LEGO Systems designed around the Return of the Jedi include the Home One Mon Calimari Starcruiser, Ewok Attack 7139 and the very popular Jabba's Sail Barge 6210. The Sail Barge has quite a few popular Star Wars Mini figures including Luke Skywalker and a Boba Fett!
Star Wars: The Clone Wars was released in 2008 and was based on the animated mini series of the same name. The LEGO sets released for this system include a great set called the Pirate Tank. This set is very much unique to all other Star Wars LEGO Sets as it doesn't really have anything to do with either the Republic or the Seperatists. The Pirate pillage the galaxy with no preference.
